Racing Miku first appeared in 2010 as a motorsport-themed version of the iconic Vocaloid herself, initially created as the official mascot for the Good Smile Racing team in Japan’s Super GT racing series. This team, Good Smile Company’s official competitor, races in the GT300 class of the race, which is the most diverse and allows for a wide range of cars and modifications, using a Mercedes-AMG GT3 decorated completely with Racing Miku motifs.
Racing Miku is designated as the racing team’s “support angel” character, which is meant to cheer the team on, motivate the competitors, and promote sponsors, much like a team cheerleader. Similar to Snow Miku, Racing Miku is given a new design each year, with submissions from top illustrators that fans can vote on to choose that year’s appearance. For 2025, the winning design is based on an illustration by Kei Mochizuki, showcasing Miku in a streetwear-style outfit and equipped with a giant speaker and bright pink bear mascots.
In addition to appearing in a wide variety of outfits and designs, figure collectors also get treated to Racing Miku’s many looks in the form of many different figures, with something for everyone! Each year, Racing Miku’s new designs receive a multitude of different figure appearances: each year’s design being released as a scale figure, poseable figma, and Nendoroid.
